Thinley

Bhutan

My name is Thinley, and I am 18 years old, from the country known as Bhutan “The Last Shangrila”. I am self-confident and very determined to serve my nation in any aspect. I see myself as a very honest and hard-working boy.

I live in a country full of culture where the people are very beautiful and very patriotic. I live with my family, and I am the eldest sibling, studying in 12th grade in a school above my hometown. In my school, I am a captain of the younger students, this has helped me to develop leadership qualities. I like to spend time with my friends. I also love to compose songs, write lyrics and play basketball.

I have had many dreams since my childhood days; one of them is that I really want to participate in civic engagement programs, which is what I do now. I am part of GNRC Bhutan and member of GNRC Children’s Committee manifesting Bhutan. For me this is an opportunity to do something to change the world that we live in.

I think we should all join hands to shape future generations. The GNRC in Bhutan is a place where you can do this, my experience with them has been great, I feel valued, even more than a pot of gold. It has been an opportunity to learn, interacting with different members and learning new concepts that have helped me improve the quality of life of our children, as well as my own learning process.

In 10 years, I want to see myself working with international organizations such as GNRC, UNICEF etc. I want to be someone who will solve the different problems that youth and children face.

Finally, I want to share with you a quote that really inspires me in every step of my life: “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”. It motivates me to start things, even with small steps, keep trying, and even if I fail, to know that to get things moving I just need to start again. I hope you find inspiration in it as well.
