World Day of Prayer and Action 2014 Celebrated in Tanzania

GNRC Tanzania commemorated the World Day of Prayer and Action for Children (DPAC) and the 25th anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UN CRC) on the 17th November. The event was held at the Don Bosco grounds, Upanga, Dar es Salaam (organized by Inter-religious Council of Peace Tanzania) and saw the Youth CAN share experience from the ground in Bagamoyo, Msata, Chunya, Ilula and Mbozi including achievement, challenges and recommendations.

Below are pictorial descriptions on activities that display the interfaith cooperation all with the aim of ensuring a secure environment for the development of our children.

In Tanzania, DPAC has evolved into a movement that has year round activities.

In his address, the Guest of Honor, Dr. Julies Migu said that he was pleased to see interfaith groups like GNRC and Youth CAN push to raise awareness and advocate for Climate justice. He pointed out that the effects of climate change are not religious bound but affects every Tanzanian. Over 700 GNRC Peace Club members joined children and youth (estimated 1000) coming from different inter-religious settings. People were encouraged to join the campaign We Have Faith Act Now for Climate Justice which is led and driven by faith leaders and faith communities as well as youth from all over the world.
