Message of Condolences to the Families Affected by the Attacks in Nairobi, Kenya

26th September 2013

On Saturday, 21st September 2013, a group of hateful individuals attacked and indiscriminately killed and maimed many children, women and men in a mall in Nairobi, Kenya.

These reprehensible actions were calculated and aimed to create fear and terror in all of us. I condemn these hateful actions.

GNRC members around the world share the convictions and principles that violence, terrorism, hatred and vengeance can never be a path for us. I join all of you in expressing these principles and convictions. Being fearful, hateful and vengeful only complicates our relationships, and makes it possible for those who carried out the attacks to succeed in their actions and intentions. We must never let them succeed.

Our response to these heinous crimes should, and will, be more openness, deeper love and better understanding of each other.

Here at the GNRC Secretariat in Nairobi, we are deeply affected by these hateful actions. We wish to express our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the families who are affected by these heinous acts.

Peace be with all,

Dr. Mustafa Y. Ali
Secretary General,
Global Network of Religions for Children
