Media Training Workshop for Youth

Between 5th and 12th August 2019, Jugend, Bildung und Kultur e.V, GNRC Member in Germany, conducted a media training workshop for 31 youth leaders and workers in Velbert, Germany. The meeting sought to equip youth with ICT related skills that will expose them to diverse career opportunities in information technology. The training also fostered digital competences in youth work.

The primary goal of the project was to teach the youth how to shoot, edit and share online videos. The empowerment of youth is seen as an big step towards understanding the use of online technology and its limitations so that they can be able to protect themselves from online exploiters and abusers, and ultimately enable the youth to contribute to positive social change within their local, regional, national or international setting.

A particular emphasis was put on developing ways to encourage youth to work on online video projects that promote equity, social cohesion, and active citizenship as well as other European values.
