GNRC YOUTH Meeting, Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania

On June 16th, representatives of the GNRC YOUTH from Tanzania met for first time with GNRC Youth Coordinator to get acquainted and discuss GNRC YOUTH past and future plans and aspirations. The youth highlighted their involvement with different initiatives to address child poverty and climate justice through their participation in peace clubs.GNRC Youth Tanzania is comprised by a dedicated and motivated group of young people that have vast experience implementing GNRC activities around the country.

GNRC “INTERNATIONAL YOUTH FOR PEACE CAMP”, Zanzibar TANZANIA, JUNE 18th-20th

The 2014 GNRC Youth for Peace Camp  themed: “A common destiny: Community resilience against violent extremism” (CRAVE), Zanzibar, Tanzania took place  betwwen June 18th- 20th.

A 3 day international workshop that gathered 23 youth from 5 countries in the Horn of Africa region to learn, analyze, present and  discuss how violent extremism can be prevented and countered by peace building, interfaith activities and grass root involvement, this youth camp brought together 22 youth from mainland Tanzania, Zanzibar, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and South Sudan.

The program comprised of 3 main sections: Conflict Analysis, Peace, and Interfaith Dialogue; and included interactive sessions and lectures. As part of the program,the participants visited different places of religious worship including a Mosque, a Church and a Temple in Stone Town, Zanzibar.
