GNRC holds consultations for members in South Asia; welcomes new members from South East Asia

Thirty (30) participants from fifteen (15) countries including GNRC members and Arigatou International teams participated in the GNRC meeting for South and South East Asia from 13th – 15th October in Muratuwa, Sri Lanka. The meeting which was hosted by the Sarvodaya Movement in Sri Lanka focused on consolidating the GNRC network in South Asia, and introducing the network in South East Asian countries.

The meeting which was hosted by the Sarvodaya Movement in Sri Lanka focused on consolidating the GNRC network in South Asia, and introducing the network in South East Asian countries.

Dr. Vinya Ariyaratne, Sarvodaya Movement Secretary General shared with the participants about the History of the GNRC and Arigatou International. Welcoming the participants to Sri Lanka, Dr. Ariyaratne explained how GNRC network was working in the South Asian region, and encouraged the potential GNRC members to the Network.

Dr. Mustafa Y. Ali, Secretary General of the GNRC introduced the network by sharing with participants its mission, vision, objectives and an overview its programs. He encouraged the participants to continue building the Network in the region, and welcomed participants to join the growing Network.

The three-day consultative and participatory meeting allowed participants representing the their organizations from South and South East Asia to give their input on the mission, vision and objectives of the GNRC. They also shared about various ways in which they can and will implement GNRC activities in their respective countries.

On the third day, the participants visited the various projects of the Sarvodaya Movement in Sri Lanka.
