Health Cover for Children in Rwanda

The Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC) in partnership with End Child Poverty and the Umbrella for Vulnerable in Rwanda, supported six hundred (600) children and youth to acquire Health Insurance Covers under the Health Insurance Scheme Project. The cover, issued on 28th June 2018 in Kigali, Rwanda, is set to run for the entire year of June 2018 – June 2019.

The target audience for this particular project are families from destitute background in Rwanda. Close to two thousand five hundred recipients, including children, youth, women and the elderly, have benefited from this project since its establishment in 2016 by GNRC and End Child Poverty. The project acts to GNRC’s priority area of Ending Child Poverty in all forms and contributes to Sustainable Development Goal number 1 of Ending Poverty in all its Forms Everywhere.

Poverty remains one of the greatest challenges facing humanity. Globally, more than 800 million people are still living on less than US$ 1.25 a day, with many lacking access to adequate food, clean drinking water and sanitation. It is up to social actors to even the progress by ending poverty in all capacities.
