In an effort to end violence against children, GNRC–Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by Ms. Ismeta Begic held a one-day workshop to sensitize the children of Visoko on the Fifth Forum. Approximately 60 participants mainly youth and children attended the event.
The event revolved around four main topics: – Identifying the types of violence against children – emotional violence, psychological violence and physical violence. The second part was classifying the primary players in promoting peace; parents, teachers, learning institutions, centers for community development, security/government institutions and faith based organizations among others.
The third session involved ways of ending violence- addressing it in public, counseling, through debates and dialogues, following legal channels and teaching it in schools. The fourth session encompassed picturing out a non-violent society. The indicators of a peaceful society agreed upon were: – a happy community, appreciation of the value of education, improvement of security status, and presence of an intellectual society among others.
