Youth participating at the Regional Youth Peace Forum organized by Interfaith Initiative to End Child Poverty and GNRC in collaboration with the Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) conducted side activities to commemorate the World Day of Prayer and Action for Children (DPAC), on 20th November 2017 at Sagana, Kenya. The event was attended by thirty-nine (39) participants from five (5) countries in the Horn of Africa including Kenya, Ethiopia, Somalia, Uganda and Tanzania.
Throughout the day, youth leaders offered and led prayers on behalf of all children, with special focus on children affected by violence, conflict, hunger and poverty. The Director of End Child Poverty, Rev. Fred Nyabera, also took part in the prayer sessions.
Youth leaders also observed a day of fasting during the DPAC event and lit candles in honor of all children. The event was shared throughout the social media with a message on stopping violence against children. #DayoftheChild, #WorldChildrensDay, #YouthInAction, #ILeadPeace and #AllforChildren trended during the event.
