On 20th May 2019, the Secretary General, Dr. Ali attended a Round table Meeting of twenty five (25) sheikhs, selected from different parts of the country at Nairobi, Kenya. This was done during an Iftar dinner that brought together Muslim leaders and government officials. The purpose of the Roundtable meeting was to discuss the involvement of religious leaders and community engagement in Countering Violent Extremism that will complement the government efforts in enhancing security in Kenya.
Some of the topics discussed were Terrorism and the Islamic World: Trends and Dynamics, Building Bridges to Muslim communities to combat VE: Involvement of Muslim Religious Leaders and the Government and Religious Scholars Partnership in Combating VE and Terrorism. Through the SHARE initiative, Sheikhs come together to discuss issues on radicalization and violent extremism.
