Progress to address violence against children has been made during the last years; yet many challenges remain and there is still much that needs to be done. Post-2015 provides us with a platform to work together to ensure that children live a life free from all forms of violence, are protected in conflicts and disasters and thrive in a safe family environment.
Arigatou International Geneva, Convener of the NGO Working Group on Children and Violence of Child Rights Connect, coordinated the development of a video to advocate to End Violence Against Children, particularly in view of the development of the Post 2015 agenda.
The video provides an overview of violence that affects children around the world and identifies seven recommendations that governments, United Nations agencies, NGOs and all those concerned with children need to implement. The recommendations identified were part of the discussions held during and after the High Level Panel on Violence Against Children, that took place on 23 September 2014 during the 27th Session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.
We invite you to share this video with your networks, use it as an advocacy tool and today 20th of November, commemoration of the 25th Anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and celebration of the World Day of Prayer and Action for Children, make our voices heard around the world!
The official launch of the video will take place in Geneva, Switzerland on 11 December with the collaboration of several Permanent Missions and other partners. The video will be available in Arabic, French and Spanish.
