Silvia Mazzarelli - Programs Manager for Latin America and the Caribbean
Silvia Mazzarelli is an Italian national based in the Dominican Republic.
Ms. Mazzarelli is an international development Professional, specialized in human rights and international justice with extensive experience in the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) Region in program and project management focusing on child-rights based approaches to development programming.
She has been working in the LAC Region since 2006 with various NGOs including the United Nations in Ecuador as a Human Rights and Migration Officer, in Guatemala as a Monitoring and Evaluation Officer for UNDP, in the Dominican Republic with the Salesians coordinating projects and programs and with Plan International as Programme Leader advocating for children rights.
In June 2012, she was appointed by the Latin American and Caribbean Network on Children's Rights as Caribbean Representative in the International NGO Council on Violence Against Children, with the task of supporting the UN Secretary General's Special Representative on Violence against Children (Mrs. Marta Santos Pais) with the follow-up to the recommendations of the UN Study on Violence Against Children.
She has been volunteering with the GNRC since 2006.
Silvia holds a Master of Law (LL.M) in International Crime and Justice from the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute and the University of Torino, a Master of Arts (MA) in International Relations and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Political Science from the University of Rome.
