On the 26th of September 2016, the Secretary General of the Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC) and Director Arigatou International-Nairobi, Dr. Mustafa Yusuf Ali, officially formalized GNRC-Kenya. Different organizations in Nairobi as well as individuals with strong passion for children’s welfare were represented in the meeting.
In the meeting held in Nairobi, Dr. Ali welcomed the members and encouraged them to identify programs and activities, which GNRC-Kenya can do to inspire the lives of youth and children. The Secretary General also introduced the GNRC 5th Forum scheduled to take place in Panama in May 2017, focusing on ending violence against children. The three sub-themes of the forum were also introduced namely: – “Protecting Children from Violent Extremism, Gang Violence and Organized Crime: The Role of Faith Communities”; “Nurturing Spirituality and Ending Violence in Child Upbringing: The Role of Faith Communities”; and “Ending Sexual Exploitation and Abuse of Children: The Role of Faith Communities”.He reiterated Arigatou International’s commitment to working with all stakeholders especially faith leaders, women, youth and children, to make the world a better place for children.

Dr.Mustafa Yusuf Ali addressing members at the meetingThe GNRC Network and Programs Coordinator, Dr. Dorcas Kiplagat also welcomed the members into the network and encouraged them to conceptualize new ideas that can steer the country towards attaining the Sustainable Development Goals as set in the Vision 2030.
The GNRC Country Coordinator, Sh. Ramadhan Aula encouraged members to be vibrant and active at all times. He pointed out the need for professionals in the same field to engage and network for a common goal.
Ms. Nyambura Gichuki, End Child Poverty program officer clarified that GNRC brings all the initiatives of Arigatou International together in making a better world for children. She invited members to the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, which is celebrated on 17th October of every year.
