On 25th March 2022, the GNRC Secretary General, Dr. Mustafa Y. Ali, and the GNRC Tanzania Coordinator, Ms. Joyce Mdachi, convened a consultative meeting in Zanzibar, Tanzania with GNRC members to establish GNRC Zambia, GNRC Malawi, GNRC Zimbabwe, and launch GNRC Mozambique and GNRC Democratic Republic of Congo.
The one-day consultative meeting was part of GNRC’s ongoing efforts to reinvigorate and strengthen its networks. The meeting was graced by Sh. Ibrahim Lethome who is an Arigatou International Advisory Group member, as well as the Secretary General of the Centre for Sustainable Conflict Resolution, and Legal Advisor to the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims.
At the meeting, Dr. Ali spoke on the history of the GNRC in the region and on the continent, and the expansion and solidification of the Network within 61 countries worldwide. Dr. Ali had particular praise for the tireless efforts of GNRC coordinators and contact persons, who he noted played a pivotal role in the GNRC’s extensive self-assessment process conducted last year.
Dr. Ali encouraged those present to continue representing the GNRC as its ambassadors, and to continue in the vital work of building a better world for children starting where it matters the most—the grassroots. He concluded by reiterating the GNRC Secretariat’s commitment to supporting members’ efforts for the well-being of children and interfaith cooperation.
