Faith Leaders’ Statement on Financing for Development in Africa

Africa’s faith communities and their faith leaders have been involved in the process shaping the Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) and the Financing for Development (FfD) framework, as key actors in Africa’s development.

 In a recent interfaith meeting held in Nairobi, in May 2015, the initiative issued a statement ‘Unlocking Africa’s Resourcefulness’ and affirmed the African Union Common African Position as well as the Agenda 2063, as major frameworks for Africa’s engagement with herself and the rest of the world.

The recently held Interfaith Side Event on Financing for Development (FfD) in Addis Ababa- Ethiopia Further enabled Africa’s faith leaders to bring a moral voice on Africa’s wealth in relation to the development needs of Africa; Provided an opportunity for Africa’s faith leaders to amplify the position of Africa’s Faith Communities on FfD; and, Deeping the understanding of Africa’s Faith Communities of the multiple actors in financing development. Strengthened collaboration and synergies
