The celebration took place on 6th December 2011 and was organized and executed by students in grades 8 and 9 while it focused on the following issues:<br \/>\n\u2022 Child labour<br \/>\n\u2022 Physical and psychological abuse<br \/>\n\u2022 Discrimination against girls<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the event students were introduced to the topic and the event. Students watched videos and discussed the issues on hand. They brainstormed questions and ideas to be discussed with the guest speaker; Her Excellency Former Minister Mrs. Asma Khader.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On the day of the celebration, Mrs. Asma Khader talked to the students about Child Rights, International Declarations and Protocols as well as local laws and regulations that protect children. She also presented the challenges that the International Community faces regarding Child Rights and violence against children. The session was concluded with questions and discussions with the students.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To deepen their understanding and express their ideas in creative ways, the students were divided into the following Workshops:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Art: students worked on creating a Collage about violence against children. Another group created badges to be distributed in school.&nbsp;<br \/>\n\u2022 Drama: drama sketch about the topic, students presented it at the end of the day.<br \/>\n\u2022 Music: students composed their own rap song and sang other songs to raise awareness about violence against children, and the rights of children that have to be protected.<br \/>\n\u2022 Slogans, brochures and posters were designed to be used in school to raise awareness about this topic.<br \/>\n\u2022 Broadcasting: students created videos discussing the issues and presented them to their colleagues.<br \/>\n\u2022 A group organized a mini workshop for younger students to raise awareness about this topic.<br \/>\n\u2022 Another group took the initiative of creating a website\/Facebook page for the campaign; \u201cStop Violence Against Children\u201d.<br \/>\n\u2022 The dance group in the School choreographed a dance to express their ideas on violence against children especially within families.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\"> <img decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignright size-full wp-image-1652\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\"> \tAll students presented their outcomes in the celebration at the end of the day.<br \/>\nFellow students, School principal, and heads of departments attended the presentation session as well as representatives from the local community.<br \/>\nThrough the different activities students have gained knowledge about the topics, became aware of their rights and responsibilities within their community, and shared their knowledge with others.<\/p>\n<p>All students renewed their commitment to start change within themselves and their local communities,<br \/>\nand planned for follow-up campaigns and activities in the School.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<p>
