GNRC–Kenya in partnership with Pwani Youth Network, Building Resilience Against Violent Extremism (BRAVE), Council of Imam and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK) and PADADA Initiative, organized a community resilience interfaith tour in Mombasa, Kenya to sensitize youth on the importance of ending violence against children. Forty six (46) participants, most of whom were youth and children, attended the 29th December 2017 event. The interfaith tour aimed at enriching diversity in religion, culture and beliefs of the community as well as to educate the youth on tolerance, respect and peaceful co-existence.

Search For Justice, a member of GNRC, organized a two-day workshop on 9th and 10th November 2017 for media, government officials and civil society organizations to discuss matters child rights and child protection. The workshop aimed at building the capacity of key stakeholders responsible for legislation, policy formulation and accountability related to child protection in Pakistan.


CAN Pakistan and Search For Justice observed the World Day of Prayer and Action for Children on 20th November 2017 by organizing two separate sessions for boys and girls on child protection in Lahore, Pakistan. Children were taught on their rights and responsibilities as stakeholders of the society and their importance to protecting themselves from exploitation. The global context on violence against children was shared, to help the children avoid falling victim of violent acts. Psychologist and parliamentarian, Dr. Aliya Aftab, participated in the event.

GNRC–Kenya led by Building Resilience Against Violent Extremism (BRAVE) marked the World Day of Prayer and Action for Children on 25th November 2017 at the Molem Superloaf Primary School in Kariobangi, Nairobi. The event themed, “Stop Violence Against Children,” was attended by one hundred and (110) children from the Good Hope Children’s Home and Villadeac Children’s Home situated in Kariobangi. Other organisations that attended the event included Centre for Sustainable Conflict Resolution (CSCR), the Cry of a Young One, Fair Kenya Organization and Child Life Kenya.

Youth participating at the Regional Youth Peace Forum organized by Interfaith Initiative to End Child Poverty and GNRC in collaboration with the Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) conducted side activities to commemorate the World Day of Prayer and Action for Children (DPAC), on 20th November 2017 at Sagana, Kenya. The event was attended by thirty-nine (39) participants from five (5) countries in the Horn of Africa including Kenya, Ethiopia, Somalia, Uganda and Tanzania.

GNRC–Bosnia and Herzegovina in partnership with UŽ "Mozaik", World Vision and UNICEF organised an awareness workshop to sensitize children and youth on preventive measures towards ending violence against children. The workshop held on 20th November 2017, themed Stop Violence Against Children, was to celebrate the World Day of Prayer and Action for Children (DPAC). Much emphasis was also put on child rights and the importance of education for children for a brighter future. More than fifty (50) youth and children participated at the one day event which took place at the Visoko municipality.

Sombor Educational Center, a member of GNRC, commemorated the World Day of Prayer and Action for Children by carrying out an outdoor event in Sombor, Serbia. The activity, hosted on 20th November 2017, sought to echo the theme of the international day namely Stop Violence Against Children. The event was supported by Arigatou International Prayer and Action for Children, the TRAG Foundation, the Delegation of the European Union in Serbia, the CSO Dialogue and local authorities.
