“The government has failed to comply with international commitments to ensure the protection of children’s rights.” This was a unified voice echoed by Child Rights Movement (CRM) officials during a media briefing on Pakistan’s Commitment to securing Children Rights on 26th August 2017 at Lahore, Pakistan.

During the month of August, GNRC–Sri Lanka through Interfaith Initiative to End Child Poverty (End Child Poverty), conducted an online training for youth and children on the safe use of Internet. About eighteen (18) students were reached during the activity.

GNRC–South Africa in partnership with Religions for Peace and Info4africa held a peace awareness forum for youth themed Mutual Respect -Understanding Self and Others on 22nd August 2017 at the Manning Road Methodist Church Hall, Durban, South Africa.

Every year, Sol Mentis, a member of GNRC, is invited to implement Learning to Live Together (LTLT) program by public schools in Pantelimon, Bucharest, during summer school. The activity is mostly organized for the destitute children in the community. This year’s training focused on violence against and among children as a step towards implementing the Fifth Forum commitments reached in Panama, in May 2017. GNRC–Romania conducted 40 sessions, reaching one hundred and fifty (150) Romanian and Roma students aged between 6 and 14.

On the 23rd of August 2017, GNRC–Sri Lanka conducted a roundtable meeting themed, “Ethics Education to Strengthen Families and Nurturing Spirituality in Early Childhood for the Prevention of Violence Against Children”. The event was organized by Arigatou International’s Ethics Education for Children, Sarvodaya Movement, Walpola Rahula Institute and The Global Partnership to End Violence Against Children.

“Violence should never separate us, we originate from Adam and Eve (Hawa). And despite our religious affiliations, we are all equal. Thus, we should love and appreciate one another as that is what our faiths teach.” This was a statement evoked by a child during the interfaith outreach event organised by GNRC and UŽ "Mozaik" V.Čajno on 20th July 2017 in Livno and Bugojno cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The two cities, which are inhabited by Catholics and Muslims respectively, have been known to have a rich cultural and historical heritage that enables the occupants to exercise social cohesion. The event also received support from religious leaders union, individual well-wishers and Gorica Museum.

1st of July 2017, was a blissful day for the children of Kariobangi as they woke up to a surprise visit from GNRC–Kenya and her friends. Led by Abdulswamad Alawi of Arigatou International – Kenya, the team organized a fun day event aimed at boosting the morale of the children at the Good Hope Markazil Banatul Islamia Orphanage located in the south of Nairobi, Kenya.
